CicloBono is a financial incentive that rewards you with €0.02 per kilometer—whether you drive or ride—for the energy savings you generate by carpooling.

At Ciclogreen, we measure and certify your energy savings by generating Energy Savings Certificates (CAEs). Energy companies that are required to purchase these certificates acquire them through Ciclogreen, and we deliver your reward directly as gift cards in the app. It’s that easy: carpool, add sustainable kilometers, and receive your CicloBono reward.

1. Open the Ciclogreen app and tap “CicloBono” from your profile.
2. Verify your phone number and identity by following the instructions.
3. Accept the terms and activate your bonus to start earning money by carpooling.

Go to My profile > CicloBono > Verify identity, scan both sides of your Spanish national ID card (DNI), foreigner ID card (NIE), or driver’s license, and take a selfie by following the instructions.
The process takes less than a minute and you only need to do it once.

Every carpool trip generates energy savings that Ciclogreen can certify. To certify your savings and receive your financial reward, complete these three steps:

1. Enter your personal information (DNI/NIE, name, and phone number).
2. Enter your vehicle’s license plate number if you are a driver.
3. Log your trips as either a passenger or a driver.

At Ciclogreen, we log and certify all the savings generated and then sell them to energy companies. This means you can earn more than €1,000 a year from your shared trips. It’s that simple: carpool, save energy, and earn with CicloBono.

To redeem your balance, check the type of balance shown in your wallet:

• Available balance: includes trips certified through 2025 and rewards from the “Invite a friend” promotion. You can redeem it once you reach a minimum of €10.
• Balance pending certification: covers trips being validated by the Ministry. Once certification is complete, they will automatically move to your available balance.

The value of CicloBono depends on the Energy Savings Certificate (CAE) market. Each CAE represents 1 MWh of energy saved, and its price varies according to market conditions, including supply and demand. The price is determined through negotiations between the energy companies required to purchase CAEs and companies that generate them, such as Ciclogreen. The reference is the price per MWh in Spain’s National Energy Efficiency Fund, which is the amount energy companies would have to pay for consumption they do not offset with CAEs.

Yes. You can also log sustainable trips made by walking, running, biking, electric scooter, or public transportation.

Each activity lets you earn ciclos. Once you reach 500 ciclos, you can enter the prize drawings available in active challenges.

The incentives you receive through Ciclogreen (€0.02/km) are considered capital gains for Spanish personal income tax purposes under Article 33.1 of Law 35/2006. They are not employment or business income and do not need to appear as in-kind compensation or on payroll; they are an incentive for participating in the platform. Receiving them as gift cards rather than cash does not change their tax treatment. If you are required to file a Spanish income tax return, you must include them even when the amounts are small.

For now, CicloBono is only available in Spain because it is based on Spain’s national Energy Savings Certificate (CAE) regulations.

The same trip can only be logged on one platform to generate a CAE. You can use different platforms for different trips, but you cannot log the same trip on more than one platform.
